July 30 2011 Oil Springs, Ontario

Saturday July 30 2011
We left Mackinaw City KOA at 8:20, had a good nights sleep.  We crossed the bridge to Canada at 2:00 (no hassles).  Stopped to visit parents on the way home (1/2 hour each, we just wanted to get home at this point).  As it was didn't get home till about 4, had to stop and pick up a few groceries.  We have put 12,900 km on the truck this trip!  We are 2 days short of being gone 8 weeks!
It was a wonderful trip.  We so enjoyed spending time with  our boys Josh and Joel and visiting along the way with friends and relatives, fantastic time and pretty good weather for the most part.

July 29 2011 Mackinaw City Michigan

Friday July 29 2011
We left at 8 or maybe 9am, weren't sure.  But talked to a guy and he said the time changes about 15 minutes down the road near Wakefield, so I guess we will go with 9.  We stopped in Champion Michigan for diesel 4.10/g.   I saw clothes drying on a clothesline and told Hank I really miss that and can't wait to hang clothes out when we get home, he told me I must be really homesick if I am wanting that!  We got to Mackinaw City about 3:30 and decided to camp there for the night leaving about a 6-7 hour drive tomorrow.  We stayed at a KOA that was just off the I 75, it was a nice spot and easy access onto and off of the I 75.  Nice relaxing and reading for the rest of the day.

July 28 2011 Ironwood Michigan

Thursday July 28 2011
Left the camp ground about 8am.  John and Joanne are going to hang around for a bit but we wanted to get a good start and across the border to the US heading home.  We crossed the border at  noon.  They took our apples, tomatoes, lime, corn and asparagus, made me mad!  Anyway we did not pay a crossing charge, but we didn't go back to ask why, guess they got enough from us with our food.  International Falls is 260 km from Joel's in West Hawk Lake.  We stopped and got diesel just outside of International Falls on Hwy 53 $4.17/g.  We stopped in Ironwood, Michigan (we drove thru Wisconsin and Minnesota)for the night, $20. full hook up.  It was really hot out so turned on the air conditioner but the hydro wasn't strong enough to keep it going so just put a fan on.  It was hot in there but the fan helped for sleeping, not a great nights sleep though.

Tuesday July 26 2011
We are moving today to V1 and Johnny will be in V2 when he gets here.  We are getting supper ready this morning for all of us tonight, Joel is coming too.  It has been great having the internet at this site will have to remember that for next visit here.  It is electric only though.  Got moved mid afternoon and waited for John and Joanne, they called and will be later than expected.  Hank went and picked up Joel and got some firewood.  John and Joanne got here about 8:45pm, we had supper together, great to see them.  We all decided that we will stay another night and spend tomorrow together and then head home.  Sat out at fire till midnight!  They have had a good trip to the east coast and now on their way home.  Great sharing stories and getting to spend more time with Joel too!
