June 9, 2011 Thursday – Day 2
Left Ishpeming at 8 am, Best Western was clean but for the money no fridge, microwave nothing. Went next door for breakfast. We drove about 20 ft in the truck and stopped and went in the trailer to put jeans and sweatshirts on. It was 42 degrees, holy cold!!!!! Anyway had a good trip today, good weather, sunny, little cloud. Stopped for gas in Bruce Crossing, Michigan 9:20. Crossed into Wisconsin at 10:30. Gas again around 11 (cause I had to use the facilities).
Took a picture of the really muddy water in Lake superior (a bay) probably due to all the rain yesterday.

About 1:30 we stopped for fuel and a stretch on highway 53. Long day, we crossed the border at 3:00 cost $10.00 to cross there. No hassle, didn’t go thru anything. Lucky us, with all this stuff, would hate to repack. Glad that is over. We were planning to drive and hour or so away from the border so we could use cell phone and not be near roaming but ended up couldn’t find a place to stay and drove all the way to Kenora. When we got to Kenora Hank wanted to stay at the first motel we saw. Got in the parking lot but not enough room for us to turn around so had to leave. Decided to get gas before we go to hotel. Hank was pumping it and an Indian guy came up and asked him where we were headed. He wanted a ride to International Falls, Hank told him we had just crossed there and come up here. He asked Hank if he had a gun, cause he wanted to shoot some animals on the way. Scared Hank so much he kept the deisel going after the truck was full. It was running out and I could here it, I was hollering at Hank but he didn’t here me so I was just taking my seatbelt off when he realized what was happening, by then his shoes had deisel on them. Drove to other side of Kenora to the Super 8 we have stayed at before. Found room for trailer and lots of room to leave in the morning. Went to Casey’s beside the hotel for supper and now relaxing in the room. It was a long drive but glad we are this far. We will meet up with Joel after he is done work tomorrow and get his stuff unloaded. Can’t wait to see him. Hard to believe it has been 5 months since we have seen him.
